I was first interested in all things electronic as a teenager and passed the old RAE in May 1960, eventually I took out the call G8BMC in 1967
and spent seventeen years operating VHF and UHF, building a lot of the equipmment myself as there was virtually no commercial VHF and UHF
equipment available then.
In 1984 having passed the morse test, I took out the call G4XCK and ventured on to the HF bands. Later in the 80's a number of local amateurs and
myself formed the Erewash Amateur Radio Group, we ran special event stations for local charities and operatated in contests etc. After the old
novice licence was introduced we ran many courses over a number of years bringing many new operators in to the hobby.
Currently my main interests are research into antenna's and investigating state of the art receiver design.
Now having retired after a lifetime in the electronics indusatry I now have the time give something back to the hobby that has given me so much
enjoyment over the last 40 years
